Welcome to RoomThirty3, GUTGAA friends (and everyone else!) I’m Mrs. Darcy, and I write books!
*Where do you write? I write at the computer in my office, but I revise outside by the pool.
*Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see? A window.
*Favorite time to write? Any time inspiration hits me.
*Drink of choice while writing? Beer. (Is that bad?)
*When writing , do you listen to music or do you need complete silence? Music! I have a playlist I title with the MC’s name. Adrian is my favorite so far.
*What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it? A pair of shoes that I LOVE but have never worn. (see my post below for a more thorough explanation)
*What’s your most valuable writing tip? Just get the words on the paper. Even if they are super dumb, cringe-worthy, embarrassingly-awful sentences. Everything can be fixed. And that’s the fun part!
Greetings, and best wishes on your writing endeavors!
You are very funny. I think I’d like your book if your blog humor travels through it as well. I too have had those mysteriously wonderful shoes…that I still have never wore. And I too buy my lottery tickets with the hope that all my dreams come true.. What a great premise for a book. Great to meet you!
Ah, beer! That’s awesome! I’ve been known to have a glass of wine while writing
So nice to meet you!
Hi there!
thanks so much for dropping by my blog. I remember seeing “hope in bloom” on Krista’s site for the Agents inbox contest! Congrats on your win! Not sure if you remember me, but my entry was ” the other side”. Hopefully Ms.Boman will like our partials *fingers crossed*
I’ve added myself to follow you on twitter and via email.
I totally remember yours! Congrats too! Crossing all possible combinations of fingers for both of us
Thanks!
Beer is awesome!
Oops. I typed in the wrong URL for my blog. Duh. I’m coming from http://twonerdsonedream.blogspot.com.
Glad to meet you and best of luck during GUTGAA!
I love your writing advice! You can’t edit a blank page.
Good luck with GUTGAA!
Glad to know I’m not the only one with shoes I’ve never worn. Love the back story.
I love beer too, though I don’t know if it would be a good idea to drink it while writing. I do have a tendency to start getting tipsy pretty quickly.
Love your blog! I’m glad to see someone else who has at least written chick lit, even if it was your “practice novel.”
Good luck with GUTGAA!!! And enjoy your beer while writing… haha! I used to drink beer while writing, too, so I can’t judge!
Haha…I only call it my “practice novel” now because I was getting no response with it, so I decided to move on to something new. Personally, I love it and it’s the novel of my heart.
You’re the first person who has ever said that editing is the fun part. I personally like vomiting words onto paper first… the editing part takes some discipline to get to.
Good luck with GUTGAA!
If your story is anything like your backstory, I will be waiting in line to read it! Such a creative way to grow a novel out of something so normal in your life… (Well, not NORMAL. Magical. And Robert Pattinson-esque.
)
Great advice. So very true. Good luck with GUTGAA. http://anjeasandro.blogspot.com/
Very witty blog here. I’m wondering, is it you or is it the beer. J/kidding. Thanks for stopping by and see you around GUTGAA!
I loved the story of the shoes. It’s funny, because just this morning I was thinking of turning a similar story into an opportunity. It has been years since it happened, but it took till now to see it as something I could work into a fictional piece. I think I’ll take this as a sign!
Hey, it’s Kat (from Beyond The Hourglass Bridge) returning your visit. I love your blog – so funny – definitely signing up.
Kat
Hey, Thanks for visiting! Glad to meet you. You have an awesome sense of humour.
Salut! Thanks or visiting my GUTGAA Meet and Greet post (Custard and Clues)! I have a friend with this sign hanging in her kitchen: “Beer–It’s not just for breakfast anymore.” Love the Talking Heads reference in your blog title.
cheers!
Leslie
Hey Mrs. Darcy – just dropping by to say nice to meet you, too!
Now we have to get you a canoe for that window……………………………..
Cheers
John
nothing wrong with beer!
nice to meet you!
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier this week! And thanks for passing it onto your science teacher friend.
I love theming music playlists to characters in my novels, too. It helps me get in their heads.
Best of luck with GUTGAA!
I like the idea of having a play list for each character. I imagine that could really help get into their mindset when you’re switching between characters. And how lovely to write by the pool! Thanks for stopping by!
Shannon at The Warrior Muse, visiting my fellow GUTGAA participants!
Hi, I love your voice and premise of the story, bring on your query in the contest. I would totally read it, best of luck. cheers Julie
Nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
